Role Summary

The Business Developer plays a central role in building the commercial foundation of Spark Traineeships — a new program that combines work-based learning with personal leadership development for young professionals. This role combines client acquisition, partnership development, market research, and go-to-market planning.

The Business Developer will lead outreach to public and private sector employers, design the customer journey for partner organisations, and shape the pricing and onboarding models that underpin Spark’s long-term scalability. This is a hands-on, high-responsibility role that directly affects the company’s success and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client acquisition & partnerships• Actively identify, approach, and acquire (pilot) organisations in the (Päijät-Häme) region to make use of Spark Traineeships’ offering.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with employers, municipal actors, regional business networks, and education stakeholders.
  • Tailor and deliver proposals and presentations that reflect each employer’s needs and Spark’s value.

Commercial & sales model development

  • Co-create Spark’s commercial framework including pricing models, client segmentation, and partnership tiers.
  • Design and refine the employer onboarding process, including pre-engagement, support during the traineeship, and post-program follow-up.
  • Ensure smooth handover and feedback loops between business development and program delivery.


Market & competitive intelligence

  • Conduct benchmarking on comparable regional and national traineeship or talent development programs.
  • Identify trends and opportunities in the talent and HR development space relevant to employers in the (Päijät-Häme) region and beyond.
  • Marketing & Go-to-Market Strategy.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team on campaign execution and employer-facing communications.
  • Contribute to content for outreach materials, events, and digital channels.


Scale-up readiness

  • Prepare materials, structures, and relationship models that allow Spark to expand to other regions after the pilot.
  • Support strategic planning for national visibility and funding opportunities post-2026.

Role Significance

The Business Developer plays a central role in driving Spark’s early market success and shaping its long-term growth. In this position, you will ensure that the traineeship program moves beyond concept and becomes a thriving, real-world solution — delivering value to paying clients, engaging committed partners, and benefiting from continuous employer feedback. This role turns vision into action by building strong partnerships, generating early revenue, and creating a scalable, repeatable model. Your work will directly contribute to positioning Spark as a trusted, in-demand solution for both employers and young professionals.

Working Model

This is a full-time role embedded within a small, committed team — the BD is the project’s main outward-facing commercial representative. As such, he/she must combine strategic planning with active execution, from first contact to deal closure and relationship management.

The BD also works closely with:

  • Founder (strategic planning, partner positioning)
  • Trainer / coach (alignment with program goals)
  • The AI Advisor (for employer-facing digital solutions)


Required Qualifications

  • Successful experience in business development, sales, or partnership roles.
  • Demonstrated success in building employer or stakeholder relationships from scratch.
  • Passion for developing talent and advancing personal growth opportunities for young professionals.
  • Understanding of public-private collaboration and regional development dynamics.
  • Convincing communication and presentation skills (Finnish and English).
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-moving pilot environment.
  • Startup mindset is a must and startup experience is a big plus.

Role Summary

The Trainer / Coach plays a central role in delivering Spark’s unique value to young professional trainees by designing and implementing the personal leadership development aspect of the program. This role combines content creation, facilitation of group and one-on-
one sessions, and continuous development of a training model tailored to the needs of both trainees and their host organizations.
The Trainer / Coach ensures that young professionals participating in Spark Traineeships grow in self-awareness, confidence, and essential leadership capabilities — such as communication, resilience, critical thinking, and use of AI tools — making them better
prepared for meaningful careers and integration into the working life of regional employers.


Key Responsibilities

Program design & delivery

  • Design and structure the personal leadership program using Spark’s training modules and pedagogical approach.
  • Deliver interactive training sessions (in-person and/or virtual) to groups of trainees.
  • Tailor content based on the needs of participants and feedback from host organizations.
  • Incorporate themes such as personal values, goal setting, reflection, self-management, communication, and AI literacy into the learning path.


Participant support & development

  • Offer coaching-style support to trainees during the program.
  • Identify personal development needs and follow up with actionable guidance.
  • Facilitate peer-learning, group work, and mentoring moments within groups.


Content & material creation

  • Develop digital and print training materials, reflection exercises, and learning journals.
  • Integrate Spark’s AI-supported learning components where applicable.
  • Continuously refine content based on feedback and learning outcomes.


Feedback, monitoring & reporting

  • Collect and document participant feedback throughout the program.
  • Monitor progress and flag any development issues to the core team.
  • Contribute to program improvement by evaluating outcomes and suggesting curriculum adjustments.
 
Role Significance

The Trainer / Coach is at the heart of Spark’s mission to develop not just employees, but emerging leaders. The success of the program—and Spark’s differentiation from traditional staffing or internship models—relies heavily on the quality, relevance, and impact of the
personal leadership training experience. This role supports each trainee in achieving meaningful personal growth, confidence, and career clarity throughout the program.


Working Model

This role requires a strong presence in the Päijät-Häme region. Training sessions will take place in inspiring, often local settings, chosen to strengthen the trainees’ connection to the region. The Trainer / Coach should be adaptable, reflective, and passionate about development of young professionals. The role may be full-time or structured as an intensive part-time engagement depending on delivery cycles.

The Trainer / Coach also works closely with:

  • Founder (program strategy and leadership vision)
  • Business developer (employer alignment and learning expectations)
  • AI Advisor (integration of AI elements into learning modules and module
    development process)

Required Qualifications
  • At least 6 years of experience in designing, developing and delivering training programs.
  • Background in personal development, coaching, leadership training, youth development, and/or young adult education.
  • Strong facilitation and interpersonal skills.
  • Insights and thorough understanding of Gen Z values and working styles.
  • Ability to design, adapt and experiment in the curriculum using mixed learning formats (digital + live).
  • Passion for helping others grow, with a positive and inclusive approach.
  • Comfortable in working with private and public organisations, big and small.
  • Finnish and English proficiency required; experience in multicultural environments is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative in a fast-moving pilot environment.
  • Startup mindset is a must and startup experience is a big plus.
